Worldcon in Helsinki 2017!

Yeah, it's been a while without any updates. Not even in Finnish.

We do have our programme recap stuff and my Noff report underway but we had to do a quick update because Helsinki won today the bid to host the Worldcon in 2017!

Worldcon is the oldest, most prestigious science fiction happening on the planet with over 70 years worth of history. It also gives out the Hugo awards which are kinda the Oscars of genre-literature.

We might have been slightly excited by the news...

What to watch 2014 edition - Part 2 of 2

We are continuing from our previous post that covered about half of the series we discussed in our presentation in Åcon - so therefore this post will also be in English. This time we will go through the rest of our recommendations/warnings.

What to watch 2014 edition - Part 1 of 2

So this one will be in English again because that's the language we did this presentation thing at the åwesome convention Åcon. So this will be kind of a recap of the presentation but will also have some expanded thoughts and other stuff we just didn't have proper time to go through.

Because of the sheer amount of series covered we decided it would be best to cover the whole presentation in two separate posts.

Copycat-kilpailu: rakas romaanihenkilö

                                                                      Kansikuva kirjailijan blogista.

Amman Lukuhetki-blogi järjestää kirjaloggaajille jo kolmatta kertaa copycat-kisan, jossa on tarkoitus tehdä kopio jonkin kirjan kannesta.

Lonkeropiirakka @ Loncon3 Day -6: Futurecast

So it's less than a week to Loncon 3 - The 72nd World Science Fiction Convention aka Worldcon. It will be our first Worldcon and as our Finncon reports this year were in Finnish we thought about doing some blogging in English on the road.

Finncon 2013: CyberSunday

Okay... so, this has taken a bit longer than we first thought. But in our defense we have done other things also so you have that. I've had to work and Korppisusi wrote an article for Geek Girls.

But finally here it is. The final part of our Finncon 2013 report.

Finncon 2013: Saturday-Caturday

The second day of Finncon 2013 had really only one instance of cats I can remember but then again it was fairly memorable one so we'll go with that. Because the breakfast at the hotel was open later than on weekdays this morning I even got up early enough to get some.

That also sadly meant that we missed the first couple of hours of programming. But having (almost) enough of sleep is fairly important for con-stituion.

After the fairly diverse breakfast we headed back to the consite after carefully building our battleplan. There would be programming. We would go see it. It would be good.

Random cute internet cat for caturdays sake.

Finncon 2013: Freaky Friday

Picture: Maija Pietikäinen

Well... truth to be told it wasn't really all that freaky. But that wouldn't be all that interesting title now would it? You might have also noticed that the text you are currently reading is in English which it normally isn't. Good catch!

But we talked about it and decided that maybe our daily Finncon reports should be in English so that they would be readable even to non-Finnish reading visitors. It could maybe even work as a sort of advertisement for the Helsinki 2015 Worldcon bid *wink wink*
